Maryland is the statewide navigation Zone for trail, recreation, stewardship, access, and outdoor-community topics that apply across the state. Use the regional Maryland Zones, including any cross-state Zones that include Maryland counties or county equivalents, for local trail knowledge, clubs, events, volunteer opportunities, stewardship projects, and place-specific discussion.
Maryland spans Appalachian ridges, the Potomac River corridor, the Piedmont, the Baltimore and central Maryland corridor, the Chesapeake Bay, Southern Maryland, and the Eastern Shore. Major managed landscapes include Maryland State Parks, Chesapeake & Ohio Canal National Historical Park, Antietam National Battlefield, Catoctin Mountain Park, Assateague Island National Seashore, Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge, Patapsco Valley State Park, Gunpowder Falls State Park, Green Ridge State Forest, and the state’s rail-trail, water-trail, and Chesapeake Bay access systems.
We have divided it into these regions:
Delaware, Maryland & Virginia - Delmarva Peninsula
District of Columbia, Maryland & Virginia - National Capital Region
Maryland - Western Maryland
Maryland - Central Maryland
Maryland - Southern Maryland
Please go to those regions for local information, organizations, and topics, reserving this statewide Zone exclusively for statewide topics.
