About Landmark Gatherings

Landmark Gatherings is the foundation for two kinds of lasting connections.

First, each Landmark Gathering Zone gives the people brought together by a particular event a durable home in Outpost. Participants, organizers, volunteers, partners, and local communities can reconnect, continue useful conversations, share what they learned, organize future efforts, and maintain relationships between gatherings. What begins as attendance at an event can grow into a continuing community.

Second, the Landmark Gatherings Space gives those durable gathering communities a place to discover one another. People and organizations whose paths might never cross through geography alone can find shared interests, exchange experience, support one another’s work, and build relationships across events, regions, and outdoor communities.

That continuity allows relationships, practical knowledge, and shared work to carry forward instead of ending when an event does. Clubs, event communities, stewardship organizations, outdoor leaders, volunteers, and participants can learn from one another while each gathering retains its own identity.

A Landmark Gathering is a recurring event with a durable identity that benefits from a broader reach on Outpost. Each event brings people from different communities together on a regular cycle, forming a community around the gathering itself. Its Landmark Gathering Zone keeps that community connected before, during, and after the event. The Landmark Gatherings Space gives these communities a place to discover one another, exchange knowledge, support shared work, and build relationships across events.
