Sharing Local Knowledge from Sacramento to the Sierra

Keep this Region useful to the people who live, work, volunteer, organize, and regularly spend time across Sacramento, Gold Country, the river valleys, the foothills, and the northern Sierra.

Focus on outdoor access, stewardship, trail and river conditions, public lands, clubs, events, volunteer work, fire recovery, and practical community knowledge. Broad political arguments, culture-war rhetoric, personal attacks, harassment, impersonation, scraping, pressure campaigns, and spam do not belong here.

Avoid treating the entire Region as though it has one set of conditions or one local identity. Sacramento, Chico, Sonora, Susanville, Quincy, foothill communities, valley counties, and higher Sierra areas may have different land managers, weather, access issues, and stewardship priorities.

Include dates and sources when sharing time-sensitive information. Distinguish personal observation, official notice, secondhand information, and informed opinion. Do not present rumors as closures or personal risk tolerance as a universal safety standard.

Protect sensitive cultural, ecological, and stewardship sites. Do not publish confidential access details, encourage trespass, expose vulnerable locations, promote closure violations, or undermine restoration and fire-recovery work.

Commercial promotion belongs only in clearly marked commercial Spaces. Local Discussions should not be used for disguised advertising, unsolicited pitches, lead collection, or pressure on clubs, land managers, nonprofits, volunteers, or other community members.

Give credit to the people and organizations doing the work. Local knowledge should strengthen the Region rather than become material extracted from it.
