About The Sacramento, Gold Country & Sierra Foothills Region

This Zone covers the broad outdoor community that reaches from Sacramento and the northern Central Valley into Gold Country, the Sierra foothills, the Lost Sierra, and the forested mountain country farther north and east. It is not just a Sacramento Zone and not just a Sierra Zone. The useful thread is the way people move between the Sacramento and American Rivers, the valley’s wetlands and working landscapes, the Mother Lode foothills, the Feather and Yuba watersheds, the Stanislaus River country, the northern Sierra, and the volcanic and high-desert edges around Lassen.

Use this Zone for local trail knowledge, stewardship opportunities, local clubs and organizations, regional outdoor events, route questions, trail conditions, access updates, visitor questions, and practical Discussions connected to this Region.

Includes these counties:

California: Amador, Butte, Calaveras, Colusa, Glenn, Lassen, Plumas, Sacramento, Sierra, Sutter, Tehama, Tuolumne, Yolo, Yuba

Places and systems that may come up here include Sacramento, the American River Parkway, the Sacramento River, the Cosumnes River Preserve, Yolo and Colusa Basin wetlands, Chico and Bidwell Park, Oroville and the Feather River, Lake Oroville, the Sutter Buttes, the Highway 49 and Mother Lode corridor, Amador and Calaveras foothill communities, Calaveras Big Trees, the Stanislaus River, Tuolumne County mountain communities, Plumas National Forest, Lassen National Forest, Stanislaus National Forest, the Lost Sierra, Sierra Valley, the Sierra Buttes, the Middle and North Forks of the Feather River, and the transition from forested mountains toward the Modoc Plateau and Great Basin.

Trailspect is not the authority for these places. Outpost should point people toward the people and organizations already doing the work.
