About the Iowa Zone

Use this statewide Zone for Iowa-wide trail, stewardship, policy, funding, and organization topics. Local trail reports, club activity, event planning, and county-level questions belong in the regional and cross-state Zones listed below.

Iowa spans the Mississippi River bluffs, the Missouri and Big Sioux river edges, the Loess Hills, prairie remnants, oak savannas, wetlands, rail trails, water trails, state parks, state forests, wildlife areas, county conservation lands, and locally managed trail systems across the Des Moines, Cedar Rapids, Iowa City, Waterloo-Cedar Falls, Ames, and western Iowa corridors.

We have divided it into these regions:

Iowa - Interior & Western

Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota & Wisconsin - Driftless

Illinois & Iowa - Quad Cities

Iowa & Nebraska - Omaha Area

Iowa, Nebraska & South Dakota - Siouxland

Please go to those regions for local information, organizations, and topics, reserving this statewide Zone exclusively for statewide topics.
